Yair Shalev Seahawks
My name is Yair Shalev and I am a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks.
Led by second-year quarterback Russell Wilson, who went to the
University of Wisconsin and by Marshawn Lynch, who went to the
University of California, Berkeley, the Seahawks are a formidale team
with a devastating defense. I go to most of the home games and enjoy
being part of the 12th man.
I even have a jersey with my name on the back, “Yair Shalev“.
Check back on my blog after every Sunday to see my thoughts on the latest Seahawks game.

Along with the Cathedral of St. Joseph it is the seat of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. It is a contributing property in the Quality Hill neighborhood, which is listed on theNational Register of Historic Places.
The Rev. Benedict Roux arrived in Kansas City in 1833. Two years later he built a church out of logs at Eleventh and Broadway that was named St. John Francis Regis. Yair Shalev Husky Stadium
Hi Guys, Welcome to blog by Yair Shalev, In my previous post, I discussed Center for Wooden Boats. Hopefully you enjoyed this blog entry. Today I am going to share my views about Columbia Center.
Husky Stadium is an outdoor football stadium on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, United States. It has been the home of the Washington Huskies of the Pacific-12 Conference since 1920, hosting its football games. The university holds its annual commencement at the stadium in June. It is located at the southeastern corner of campus, between Montlake Boulevard N.E. and Union Bay, just north of the Montlake Cut.

Britney Spears Hit Me Baby One More Time by Yair shalev
I actually get quite a few search terms related to Britney Spears that bring readers to the blog. The chief search term is hit me baby one more time or variations thereof. The offending post is this one from Iraq: Ten Years Later where I described a couple of Iraq kids singing the Britney Spears song while I watched from tower guard.
Incidentally, Britney Spears was a theme during that deployment. I have a few posts that mention her.

Philosophical Story Challenge of the Week
So,
you all know that on Saturdays we do philosophy challenges, and I’ve
been focusing on wealth and poverty issues for the past couple of
months. Last week, or the week before, I asked a question about the
concept of a ‘fair wage’ and whether or not that was even a meaningful
term in a Capitalist society. This week, I want to build on that idea
some. Honestly, I think the previous question is a good one, but I also
think that we need to go farther with the question. I think, as a
general basis, the concept of a ‘fair wage’ has no meaning in a
generally Capitalistic society… unless that society is ‘just’. I
want to stress here that I am using ‘just’ in the Platonic sense of
‘rightly ordered’. In Plato’s philosophy justice was the virtue of
having a rightly ordered soul. That is to say that the three parts of
the soul (rational, spirited, and appetitive) were all doing what they
were intended to do, and not shirking their duties or usurping someone
else’s. Plato also sets this out in his just society where the Guardians
(rulers), Militia (soldiers), and Laborers (… … laborers…) were all
doing their jobs. The laborers weren’t trying to be rulers or soldiers,
and the soldiers weren’t trying to be laborers. However, rather than any
concept of rightly ordered roles, I want to argue that a capitalistic
society must have rightly ordered values (i.e. the importance that we
place on entertainment, education, health, exercise, virtue, income,
etc) in order for the concept of a ‘fair wage’ to have any meaning at
all. Further, I think (though I haven’t thought this argument through
entirely) that a capitalistic society with rightly ordered values could
not fail to have a truly fair system of wages. So, take this idea and
run with it. Agree? Disagree? Think I’m completely loopy and need to
become a communist? Write me a 1000 word story that exemplifies and
defends your response to this idea. Oh, and have fun!

Yair Shalev Woodland Zoo
This blog by me, Yair Shalev,
as you all know already, chronicles my love of my hometown, Seattle,
WA. In particular, this entry deals with the Woodland Park Zoo.
I visited the zoo recently and saw the most amazing animals.
Here is the mission statement of the zoo:
Woodland Park Zoo saves animals and their habitats through conservation leadership and engaging experiences, inspiring people to learn, care and act.
For more than 110 years, Woodland Park Zoo has been a cherished community resource and a unique urban oasis. Generations of Puget Sound families have come to the zoo to marvel at the animals and be inspired by the peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
Check back to this blog by Yair Shalev soon to see my reviews of particular animals I saw at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington.
